Pregnancy which lasts 40 weeks, creates a large physical, hormonal and emotional change in your body. As your baby grows and develops, your centre of gravity changes creating different stresses on the body.  It is common but not normal  to experience low back and pelvic pain and even shoulder pain at this time.

During pregnancy your abdominal muscles will lengthen as your baby grows, this can affect how they provide a ‘corset of support’ for your trunk and lower back.

Hormonal changes during pregnancy cause ligaments around the pelvis to relax in the first trimester. This will aid with the birthing process, but can contribute to lower back pain, pelvic girdle pain and other pregnancy related conditions  such as;

  • SPD
  • Round ligament syndrome
  • Coccydynia
  • Costo-vertebral pain (also known as rib pain)

During this assessment your pregnancy and delivery mode will be considered as we assess your back, pelvis, stomach and pelvic floor to ensure that your body makes a complete recovery.

Issues such as Pregnancy Related Pelvic Girdle Pain, Low Pain Pain, Coccyx Pain & Constipation in pregnancy can be treated and postnatally, Vaginal birth trauma, C-section scars and any Diastasis (separation) of the abdominal wall will be addressed.
