At BodyBalance, we have therapists experienced in treating sports injuries and in rehabilitating them. Each therapist has a keen interest in sports. Our physiotherapist Sean played underage hurling for Offaly and had a scratch handicap in golf. Rachel played Gaelic Football for Skryne and Vivienne played soccer at a high level nationally.
We understand the importance of returning to activity as quickly as possible and recognize the importance of effective rehabilitation in this. We cater for all types of sports injuries.
Our therapist Sean is trained in the FMS – Functional Movement Screen – which is a screening tool used to assess how an athlete moves and most importantly assess their risk of sustaining an injury. It can be used as a pre-event screen or during your rehabilitation to help prevent injury.
Rachel and Sean have also trained under Dr Jeremy Lewis in SSMP (Shoulder Symptom Modification Procedure), which can be used to treat rotator cuff related shoulder pain which is very common in overhead sports such as hurling, Gaelic football and rugby.
Post Operative Rehab
At BodyBalance, we provide physiotherapy to those who have just had surgery. We liaise very carefully with your surgeon in order to develop the DOs and DON’Ts after your operation. We carry out a baseline assessment on your first visit and establish your goals. The treatment provided is to help you recover as quickly as possible from your surgery – by improving your mobility and strength in the affected areas.
